Start with footwear

The Park prohibits open shoes and smooth soles on its trail network. Use closed footwear with a grippy tread that you have already worn. Coastal paths combine polished stone, steps, dust and exposed edges; sandals designed for town are not hiking equipment.

Carry the essentials

Pack for the route

Check distance, elevation gain, water points and the official difficulty before setting out. Trekking poles can help on long stair descents but must be controlled carefully near other walkers. Keep dogs on a leash, as required by Park guidance.

If conditions deteriorate, turn back. During orange or red weather alerts the entire path network is forbidden; yellow alerts also demand serious caution and can stop card sales. In an emergency call 112.
