One of the is biggest dilemma for travelers
Everybody ask me wich is the best month to plan their trip to Cinque Terre. For sure it s an hard question especially because each traveler has different priorities from another … that’s why I think the best way to find the answer is to analyse pregi e difetti of each period of the year !
June to September
Advantages
- the sea is warm and you can swim in it also by night
- all restaurants,trails and accommodations are opened
- the days are long so you’ll have more time for exploring
- the weather is almost sunny
Disadvantages
- Crowded . A lot. Everywhere: trails, restaurants,viewpoints
- Highest prices
- the trains are often delayed (the crowds need much time for getting in and off )
The crowds are definitely the biggest disadvantage , so this period is perfect for someone who wants to explore the places for the whole day without hurry and who doesn’t care about crowds
November to March
Advantages
- few tourists
- Lower prices
- from December to January, in Manarola, you can admire the famous Christmas Crib that is located on a hill near the village
- Relax, silence, authenticity
Disadvantages
- weather is very changeable and it can pour down very often (even floods happen here),
- the days are shorter
- many restaurants, accommodations and trails(for safety rules) are closed
- Less trains and ferries
- It’s very very windy and cold especially from December to February
This period is perfect if you want to live in a surreal atmosphere made by silence and rough waves…
April,May,October
Advantages
- if the weather is nice you can already/still swim in the sea,
- There are many tourists but no crowds yet
- trails are opened and well prepared, as the majority of restaurants and accommodations
- the prices in restaurants and accommodations are still lower than in high seaso
- the weather is perfect, but…
Disadvantages
- …still very changeable, you can find warm and sunny days as well as cold and rainy days
- when after the winter season the trails are damaged, many of them can be still closed for the tourists … even until the end of April.
Honestly ? Maybe This is the best period for coming…but it needs also to be a little bit lucky !
