The Ancient Fisherman's Beach: Before the construction of the modern pier, this was the very beach where fishermen moored their "gozzi" (traditional wooden boats) and spread their nets to dry in the sun. Today, while it is partially equipped with beach clubs (typically open from May to September), it still preserves a small area of free public beach.
Local Traditions: Every year on June 24th, during the feast of the patron saint San Giovanni Battista, the beach takes center stage with the traditional bonfire known as "Battiston." It is a deeply felt community event that lights up the night.
Natural Features: The beach is composed of a mix of sand and pebbles. Thanks to its proximity to the small harbor and the protection offered by the promontory, the waters are generally calm and crystal clear—perfect for a relaxing break after exploring the narrow carruggi (alleys) of the old town.
Starting Point for Exploration: This beach marks the beginning of the famous Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) that leads to Vernazza, offering one of the most breathtaking scenic hikes in the world.
